I.
Purpose
The purpose of the policy is to
maintain a system for the handling of both general and restricted donations.
II.
Policy
It is the policy of Tarry House, Inc. that all donations both general and restricted, shall be
accounted for in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. They shall be received
and disbursed in accordance with the procedures established by the Finance Committee of the Tarry
House, Inc.
Board.
III.
Procedure
All donations shall be treated according
to the following guidelines:

Donated goods must be forwarded to
Administration, or designated area. A thank you letter will be completed
(original to donor, copy to file) and the donated goods shall be designated for
their intended use. Tarry House will not
estimate the value of any items donated.
The items will be referenced in the letter. The item(s) are then to be
checked for safe usage and upon approval, they are to
be delivered to the designated location for their intended use.

Donated funds must be forwarded to the Bookkeeper
for deposit into either the general checking account (for unrestricted donations)
or the Consumer Account (restricted account), or the Building Fund Account
(restricted account). Acknowledgement
letters will be sent to all donors by the Tarry House, Inc. Administration.

Tarry House, Inc. reserves the right to reject
any donations, which are inconsistent with the goals and objectives of the
organization.
