I.
Purpose
To provide all Tarry House, Inc. staff with guidelines to be followed if a bomb threat is received.
II.
Policy
It shall be the policy of Tarry House, Inc. to provide safe shelter for our people served, and staff. To that extent, when a bomb threat is received the following procedures shall take place;
· Obtain as much information as possible from the caller as possible.
· Note exact wording of the caller.
· Note distinguishing voice characteristics.
· Try to distinguish background noises such as music, voices, machinery, airplanes, traffic, etc.
· Attempt to get caller to tell where the bomb is and when it is set to go off.
· Note if the caller appears familiar with the Tarry House facility or the grounds.
THEN:
· Notify the Police Department immediately (911).
· Notify the Executive Director immediately following the Police Department.
· Following directions from both the Police Dept. and the Executive Director coordinate all personnel for necessary actions, including evacuation of the building.
· If so instructed, assist in the search for the bomb. Utilize only employees in this endeavor. Locate any items or objects that appear to be out of place or unfamiliar to the Agency.
· If a suspicious package, object or a bomb is found, notify the investigating authorities immediately.
·
Never,
under any circumstances, move, touch or attempt to cover any device you suspect
may be explosive.
·
Never use
or operate 2-way radios or cellular phones around any devise you suspect may be
explosive.
·
Following the incident, a major incident report
will be filed.
