I.                  Policy

Not showing up for a scheduled shift is disruptive and costly to Tarry House, Inc. and puts an unfair strain on other employees. “No call, no show” is when an employee does not contact his/her supervisor when needing to report off for a shift.  This behavior will not be tolerated and will result in discipline, up to and may include discharge.  All employees are expected to arrive on time for their regularly scheduled shifts and to work the entire scheduled shift.  An employee will be considered a no call/no show if he/she has not reported for work up to a half hour after the beginning of their regularly scheduled shift and has not called off.  Messages left with co-workers, on voice mail or answering machines will not be considered a proper “call-off.” Employees must speak directly with the management person designated to receive call-offs.

II.               Procedure

It is mandatory that an employee who needs to call off for legitimate reasons, will contact his/her supervisor prior to the beginning of the shift, at least two hours before the shift.  The following progressive disciplinary actions will be taken for “no call/no shows:  The first offense will result in a written reprimand, the second offense will result in a three day suspension, and the third offense will result in separation of employment.
