I.                   Purpose

 

The purpose of this policy is to describe the qualifications, authority, and responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer and method of appointment.

 

 

II.                Policy

 

The CEO shall be a person with the qualifications of a proven performance as well as knowledge and competency in the human service field of mental health.  The CEO must also have experience and competency in administrative, and public relations.  The CEO must be of sound moral character.  The CEO is the assigned authority for the administration, professional and supporting services of Tarry House, Inc.  This authority is conferred, monitored and subject to approval of the Board of Trustees.  As such, the CEO shall serve, ex-officio, as a member of the Board of Trustees.

 

III.             Responsibilities (Board of Trustees) 

 

The CEO will perform specified duties, as per policy, in the name of the Board of Trustees and any additional duties that may be required in the name of the Corporation.  The CEO will assist the Board of Trustees in formulating standards, rules and regulations particular to the profession, as being consonant with the Code of Regulations and the approval of the Board of Trustees.  The CEO will be responsible to the Board of  Trustees for the overall operation of the facilities, including the control, utilization and conservation of the physical and financial assets and the recruitment and direction of staff.  The CEO shall hire and discharge all persons in the employ of Tarry House according to procedures and policies established by Tarry House, Inc.  The CEO will monitor, participate and exercise authority in all matters of concern such as; personnel, reports, activities, planning, licenses, program management, facility development, client care, community awareness, etc., to the good of Tarry House, Inc.
